O Mundo Como Vontade e Representação (Arthur Schopenhauer)

If Erwin Schrödinger did not get his “cat” idea from reading Schopenhauer, then it is one those serendipitous coincidences of science and philosophy that, almost a century separating them, Schrödinger and Schopenhauer both happened to involve cat (or cats) in their efforts to communicate understandings of reality and philosophies of being that are actually quite similar. Moreover, the fact that Schopenhauer’s cats were widely separated by time itself may not prove to be irrelevant to the comparison of the thought-models.
